September Newsletter

With Yale, Jack Howe, and Notre Dame in the books, the 2021-22 parli season has officially started!

Fall League Meeting

Our Fall league meeting will be held via Zoom the Sunday of NPDL Fall - that’s October 24, 12:30-2:30 PM (Pacific time). We encourage all member school representatives to attend.

Any member school representative may sponsor a proposal to amend the League Rules. Proposal drafts are due September 24 - that’s this Friday. If you need help formatting a proposal, shoot us an email.

While part of the meeting will focus on formal rule changes, another part will feature a broader community discussion. Please contact us if you want to add a discussion item to the meeting agenda.

Membership Renewal

To participate in the league meeting or attend NPDL Fall, your school must be an NPDL member. Membership must be renewed annually. To register for 2021-22, click here.

If you were a member in 2020-21, you are currently in a grace period - your membership won’t expire until October 31, 2021.

Student representative designations from 2020-21, however, have already expired. Emails of 2020-21 student reps will be removed from our mailing list this weekend. To designate a new student rep, please renew your membership.

Tournament Calendar

Our calendar of tournaments that will count for NPDL points is being updated on a rolling basis as we receive and process new applications.

So far, it only includes Fall Semester tournaments - we are waiting to get a better idea of what the COVID trends are before finalizing our Spring Semester tournament approval policies.

If a tournament you plan to attend isn’t on our calendar, please reach out to the TD and ask them to fill out this short application.

Board Update

Unfortunately, our previous Reporting Director had to step down from the Board for personal reasons.

Luckily, we were able to find a replacement. We are very excited to announce that Kate Clarke-Anderson, a veteran debate coach from New Jersey, will be joining the Board as our new Reporting Director. She can now be reached at npdl.board+reporting@gmail.com. You can read more about Kate on our About page.

NPDL FALL

You are cordially invited to the NPDL Fall Invitational - an annual online tournament created with the goal of bringing together the parliamentary debate community from across the US.

The dates are October 23-24, 2021.

We want to thank all the community members who have already stepped up to volunteer to help with what is shaping up to be a great tournament. We still have some open positions left, so if you want to join our tournament staff, please apply here.
