April Newsletter

Another TOC is in the books. A huge round of thanks to all the community members who generously volunteered their time to make this tournament possible!

Spring Voting Period

Voting begins tomorrow and runs through May 7. If you are listed on this roster, you will receive a Written Ballot (a Google Form) from npdl.elections@gmail.com tomorrow.

The ballot will include elections for the 2022-23 Board. Statements from all the candidates who submitted them can be found here.

The ballot will also include proposals to amend our League Rules.

Round Recordings

Shout out to all the student and judge volunteers who recorded rounds at this year’s TOC. And a big thanks to Esha Shah, who coordinated the effort. As a result of their work, we have compiled 27 top-notch rounds featuring some of the best debaters in the country. All of these can be found in this playlist. Be sure to share these resources with your up-and-coming team members. And while you’re at it, subscribe to our channel!

Speaking of recordings, we have now compiled all high school parli rounds that can be found online into one easily searchable database. If you have any additions or corrections to the database, please email npdl.board+secretary@gmail.com

Spring Meeting of Members

On the last day of TOC, we held our biannual meeting of members. Due to the rule changes we adopted at the Fall meeting, this meeting did not involve voting on proposals - that will be taken care of during tomorrow’s Written Ballot. Instead, school representatives engaged in a general discussion about the issues facing the parli community.

Meeting minutes can be found here. If you want to request any corrections to the minutes, please email npdl.board+secretary@gmail.com

The Board will be referring back to these minutes over the summer as it plans for the upcoming season.

See y’all at our next meeting of members, which will take place during NPDL Fall.
